#4. Porn and the propaganda

Let me start with a breaking news.

Pornhub magazine did a survey about “watching preferences and habits” (god knows why?) of people from across the globe. Out of the many interesting points, one i chose to pick was (as my pick up line for this post)

“Quite expectedly, the results show that India’s favorite porn star is the Indian-origin Canadian Sunny Leone, who is now a popular Bollywood actress too. She is followed by adult entertainment stars Lisa Ann and Priya Rai.”

india today

So, according to legends, Sunny leone, a true superstar in the US porn industry, left her flourishing career and untamed fame to become an actress in Bollywood.
Sunny in Big Boss house!
Sunny in Big Boss house!
She came via Big Boss (for my friends of west, an indian rip-off of popular tv show “big brother”) a couple of years ago, sending Pooja bedi( fellow contestant and self proclaimed “feminist”) to a near death feat.
Her filmography is not worth discussing, Wikipedia would love to help me there.
She has been a prominent face in Bollywood since her arrival.
After the initial hula hoop by extremists, she gaily sailed into the industry and was praised for “breaking the typecast”. She was accepted because “brand sunny” sold. In any film she is, she is just, sunny leone. she is being paid for being herself, just in a more subdued manner. I love sunny, everyone does (one who doesn’t, lies!).
This new survey though must have brought disappointment for her.
Despite her best efforts to change her “image”, people still like watching her naked (in action).
There is so much of Sunny Leone on internet, without clothes, for free, why would one buy a multiplex ticket to watch her with clothes on trying to be a ghost? That is a no brainer.
A female friend of mine, during an argument about “objectification of women”, sighed and said about sunny, “she has chosen to do that! So i guess, objectifying her is alright.” (true story)
I sometimes find it amusing how, so easily, a country like ours accepted her so graciously, a country where men (for some reason they don’t know) want  “virgin” brides.
We Indians are becoming the most interesting species on the planet. Accepting porn stars as actresses and still watch them because they are porn stars, foeticiding the girls, raping like never before, making a hobby out of abusing women and marrying “virgin” brides. But, we “respect” women (and love sunny leone).
I wonder, what a catastrophe it would be if the government adheres on its outrageous dream to ban porn from India.
The leaders who justify rape to be alright, leaders who find cellphones and chowmein to be reasons for rape and leaders who not for once want to blame the dicks( oops :X).

An Amul hit about the three Karnataka Ministers being caught watching porn…during a session!
Naah! I don’t think, porn can ever be banned. They can’t do it (it is their only savior during the boring legislative lectures after all!).
But what do i know, i am a dolt!
